YHRI received a letter from Mrs. Roosevelt’s former assistant

Congratulations to Youth for Human Rights International for its dedication to the promotion of knowledge and responsibilities set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. As one of the creators of the Declaration, Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt recognized that for each of us Human Rights are personal and universal. As a teacher in New York City schools, she took her students to the City's prisons, hospitals and courts. At the United Nations, she defended individual rights against state political control.
Each of you can look around your neighborhood, your school and surroundings to find opportunities to make sure every person is aware of his or her rights and freedoms as set forth in the Declaration "without any distinction...such as race, color, sex,...religion....birth or other status".
The YHRI offers excellent audiovisual and printed information to help all of us promote the human rights set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
This is a big job for each and every member of Youth for Human Rights International. Good luck and thanks to all of you!
Ella R. Torrey, former public information officer for Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations
