YHRI’s Human Rights Education Campaign Welcomed in Liberia

YHRI’s Director of International Development, Tim Bowles, and West African Program Director, Jay Yarsiah, met today with the Liberian Vice President Joseph Boakai. Recognizing the progress made in Liberia, Mr. Boakai endorsed YHRI’s initiatives, encouraging Mr. Bowles and Mr. Yarsiah to take the human rights education campaign nationwide.

Throughout the remainder of the day, Mr. Bowles and Mr. Yarsiah briefed a number of human rights leaders and government representatives on the progress of YHRI’s human rights leadership program, including Joseph Blamiyon, Documentation Officer for the National Human Rights Center of Liberia (NHRCL), Thomas Moore, newly arrived political officer at the American Embassy, and Jackson Speare, Programs Officer for Foundation for International Dignity (FIND). The collaboration between YHRI and FIND continues to flourish under their recently signed memorandum of understanding. Among other collaborations, FIND is providing YHRI-Liberia its current office space and training facilities in Monrovia.
